The Estate came into being possibly around the year 1860. The word "Dikom" originated from one of the languages of North Eastern India called "Boro". The word "Dee" in Boro language means water. In fact, most of the rivers' name in the far east of India starts with the word "Dee". There is a small perennial river Sessa which divides the Estate into two halves.
Dikom has very well maintained fields with 44% clonal area. The Estate has only 37% area above 70 years. The Estate has the advantage of high quality clones like P126A, N436, S3A3, T3A3, CPI, TENALI 17 and Tea Research Association (India) released clones like TV1, 22, 23, 20. Dikom is home for P126A and N436 clones. Some very tippy Orthodox is produced from these clones.
Currently the estate is engaged in an uprooting replanting operation with the objective of increasing the area under quality clones to 65% by 2015.
The Estate has manufactured 90% Orthodox teas in the year 2004, which is a record for the Estate.
